Disclaimer:
This program will only take up space. It has been tested to the fullest, and
I am confidant it is bug free, but there are always bugs that can pop up on
other systems. I have sucsessfully tested it on a 386sx with a 200 meg maxtor
hard drive, and have had no ill effects. By using this program, you agree to
not hold the author responsible for any damages that may incure due to use
of this program.
Thanks for trying DigiChat!
Are you tired of the little annoying beeps of the PC-Speaker. Do you have a
Soundblaster? If so, you bought the Soundblaster for SOUND, why use the
PC-speaker? No matter how well someone makes a PAGE.RA file, it's still beeps
but with DigiChat, you can play any .VOC file you have and/or come up with.
Installation is simple (famous last words!):
Instead of the regular "chat" command from RA, just do a Type 7 from RA.
Optional Data: *C /C C:\RA\CHATx.COM *M
("x" being the com port your modem is on)
Copy the .VOC file you want played into your RA directory and name it
CHAT.VOC.
Before you load the BBS make sure you load SBFMDRV.COM.
You must also have VPLAY.EXE (Comes with your Soundblaster) in your RA
directory or in your PATH statement. Seeing as I'm a novice programmer,
and lazy to boot, I didn't write my own play routines.
CHAT1.COM is for COM1
CHAT2.COM is for COM2
If you are using something other than COM1 or COM2, please get ahold of me
on the BBS listed above and I will get an updated version out to you.
Optional:
Have a file called CHAT.TXT in your RA directory to display whatever
you want to the caller. Can be anything from what the chat is saying
to the time of day I suppose...
That's all. You should be all set up to hear REAL SOUND from your system
instead of thoes anoying little beeps.
If you like this program, you can send $5 to the above Snail Mail address.
Support your shareware authors!
If you can't afford the $5, at least drop me some Netmail telling me your
using it. I'd like to know if it's worth my time to update the program.
Future versions will include:
Random/Selective Chat .VOC files. Play a different one everytime!
Support of other cards
Other types of sound files
REAL-SOUND (tm) Capabilities
And MORE!
____
To all you programmers that decide to decompile this...
Keep quite! I'll release a 'C' version sometime soon.
